The Tin Can Bay Country Club along with major sponsors NewGen Caravans hosted the second of their Pro- Am tournaments for the year.
104 golfers took part in the tournament on the day, 36 of which were all Associate Professionals which was a fantastic turn out for the club. For those that are not familiar with the term, Associate Professionals are golfers who are still in the process of becoming full PGA (Professionals Golfers Association) members.
To achieve their PGA status golfers have to undertake full time study while working in a golf facility and importantly improve their own golf techniques. Players are expected to play a minimum of 30 rounds of golf throughout South East Queensland and North East NSW.
This year’s winner was Jack Wright from Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Golf Club with a seven under par for the 36 holes. Jack’s score was particularly impressive considering the very windy conditions and fast greens.
It was certainly a big day for all competitors with two tee off times one at 7am and the follow up at 12pm, all in all everyone who attended agreed that it was a great day of golf on the beautiful Tin Can Bay Country Club course.
The Country Club and organisers would like to extend thanks to all of their sponsors, it is these businesses that make events like these possible.
